After the disappointing midweek result away at Tranmere Rovers, Swindon Town will be looking to put this disappointing run of results behind them as they take on a Scunthorpe United side who are fighting for survival at the bottom of the football league pyramid.
Watching from a far on I follow on Tuesday night, it was not a pretty performance. It was a frustrating performance against a Tranmere Rovers side who are fighting pushing for promotion to League one. Micky Mellon side on Tuesday played like a team and all played for each other. Swindon looked like a team of individuals who have only just met. It was men against boys.
Maybe its time for a change of tactic, the 3-5-2 worked with the players we had up until the re-calls. But now it does not seem to be working and the teams in this division have finally sussed us out our style of football. We do not have offensive style wingbacks, we had that with Kaine Kesler-Hayden playing on the right side of a 3-5-2, he was our outlet and was fantastic on in the process doing it. You cannot play this system with two defensive wing backs, time after time you will get found out. Also, it does not help when you have so many re-calls in January which have totally screwed us over. That is a topic for another day.
Ben Garner in his pre-match press conference confirmed that Dion Conroy is still out injured, Louis Reed is back after his two-match suspension. Jack Payne more than likely be back on the bench and Jonny Williams is out with a groin injury after going off injured half-way through the first half on Tuesday night.

Scunthorpe United are rock bottom of the football league, 92nd place out of 92. Bottom of League Two and are looking down the barrel of relegation out of the football league to the Vanarama National League.
After thirty games this season played in League Two, Scunthorpe United have amassed just twenty-two points and sit three points behind fellow League Two strugglers Oldham Athletic and five points behind Carlisle United who are hovering above the dreaded dotted line in 22nd place. Walsall who have been pulled into the relegation fight are a further two points ahead of Scunthorpe United after sacking Matty Taylor midweek after losing seven in a row.
Scunthorpe United start to 2022 under Keith Hill who took the job on Bonfire night has been horrendous. Seven defeats out of eight to start the year. Carlisle United, Tranmere Rovers, Exeter City, Newport County, Bristol Rovers, Port Vale and Oldham Athletic have all defeated Scunthorpe to start 20202. Up until the Walsall game in midweek it was seven defeats in a row. That was ended with a 1-0 home win which ended Matty Taylor time at Walsall. Jai Rowe was the hero with ten minutes to go I the first half with the only goal of the game.
