September 8th 2023
Since our statement on the 18th of August 2023 regarding the shareholding of Swindon Town Football Club, we have asked the club for a meeting and shared in advance our questions to better understand the circumstances that led to the transfer of shares and the status of the current ownership of Swindon Town Football Club. Unfortunately, that meeting has not yet taken place.
Supporters will recall that on the 21st of August 2021, Swindon Town Football Club and TrustSTFC signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Whilst many of the commitments within the MOU continue to be met, there are a number of areas which we seek to affirm including:
- Providing the Trust with quarterly management and financial updates on the financial position and performance of STFC that contain a sufficient level of detail to build trust and an understanding of how the Club is being run, without compromising the Club’s position in a competitive market or revealing confidential information such as undisclosed transfer fees or individuals’ salary details.
- File full (as opposed to abbreviated) annual accounts on time.
- Present the advisory board with 1, 3, 5 and 10-year plans for the strategic development of STFC and supporter and community engagement, and consider feedback or proposals made by the advisory board.
- Discuss any meaningful potential ownership changes in advance of such changes happening.
- Answer all questions from local media outlets and never seek to censor or avoid questions, unless it would compromise the Club’s position in a competitive market or reveal confidential information such as undisclosed transfer fees or individual’s salary details.
- Share key contact information including roles and decision-making powers.
We can confirm that the points above, together with the submitted questions regarding the shareholding in the Club, will be discussed at a meeting on Friday 15th September with detailed responses provided to supporters by the Club as part of the Advisory Board minutes.
