Board Elections – The Process

We currently have eight elected Trust Board members. A number of these will be seeking re-election due to either reaching the end of their two year or were co-opted during the year.

Therefore five of the current board will be seeking re-election as shown below, along with the reasons:

  • Neil Hutchings          –           Length of service
  • Andy Bennett            –           Length of service
  • Chris Howell             –           Length of service
  • Nicholas Coote         –           Length of service
  • Jerry May                  –           Co-opted during the year

The following board members remain, resulting in there being nine vacancies:

  • Dawn Pursall
  • Anthony Jenkins
  • James Leggett

We are looking for applications from fans that actively want to get involved and have the time to do so.  Candidates should be able to bring forward innovative ideas, act with honesty, integrity and professionalism and commit the time required to be an effective board member. Our Board meetings are held at the start of each month in person and it is an expectation that you will be able to attend these.

Outside of Board meetings board members are expected to drive workstream activity and contribute regularly towards general media, public relations, legal and admin work.  Board members are also required to frequently liaise with the Official Supporters Club and supporters groups from other clubs and the Football Supporters Association.  This can be a considerable undertaking and we would only ask members to apply if they are willing to volunteer a significant amount of their time to support the Trust.

We’re committed to diversity and inclusion and would encourage candidates from all backgrounds.

In keeping with our constitutional obligations, an Election Management Group (EMG) has been convened to oversee the fair conduct of the election, should one be required.

It will be independently chaired by Robbie Whittaker, from the Blackpool Supporters Trust.  Robbie will be supported on the EMG by James Leggett as a Board member, who will undertake the role of Election Secretary and Paul Davis as a Society member, who will ensure the process is carried out in accordance with our trust policies.  We are very grateful to Robbie and Paul for their support.

The role of the EMG is to ensure that:

  • the election is conducted properly
  • that all candidates are treated fairly and consistently, and
  • that all Members have access to timely and complete information needed to help them choose a candidate.

Standing for Election

If you wish to stand for election, you should do so using this nomination form

Your application will need to be proposed and seconded by existing members (this can be done via an e-mail) and MUST be accompanied by a supporting statement of between 400-1000 words. The statement must set out your experience, current job role (where applicable), and what value you feel you can bring to the Board. Applications can only be accepted by existing TrustSTFC voting members as of Saturday31st January 2026.

This supporting statement will be candidates’ only method of communicating with voting members, as we will not be holding any other hustings process.

Applications to stand for election, along with supporting statements, must be received by no later than noon on Saturday 31 January 2026.

All applications will be shared with Trust members.  If more than nine applications are received, then voting will then take place via an electronic ballot up to noon on Thursday 26th February with results announced at the AGM later that day.

Votes can only be cast by those who are members of TrustSTFC as of Saturday 31st January 2026.  In the unlikely event of a tie lots will be drawn by the current Chair and a non-Board member at the AGM.

Should fewer than nine applications be received, no vote will take place and an affirmative ballot will be held at the AGM.  Each successfully nominated candidate will be put before the meeting for the approval of members.

Any candidate not receiving the support of more than half of those present in person and by proxy shall be deemed to have not been elected.

Board Positions

Once the Board is in place, the positions on the Board including Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer will be voted in at the first Board meeting immediately following the AGM in March 2026.  The result will then be captured in the minutes.
